The Asistio Home, the place I've been staying at for the past week.

I'll be leaving the Asistio home probably on thursday and heading over to my relatives for the next bit of my trip. I extended my trip by a week so I could party it up with Gracie and spend more time with the relatives =) I think the plan is the beach for the long weekend! See you guys back home soon...

There you go Alo, you get credit =D I'm going through dragon boat withdrawal... life after db... I'm lost.

Hair Style names so far:
The Intersection - Still my fav
Crossroads - not bad
Chrisification - sounds blasphemous
Plus Sign gone wrong - Too many words but cute.

By Blogger Sedul, at 12:29 AM

Hahah db withdrawal... likewise a little bit.

That party was one of the best ones i've had in a while. :)

Gotta think up more names hmm

I like crossroads the best :p

THe intersection sounds like a d rated movie.

Anticipation/Exhaustion

I've been living up in Waterloo at Sedul's place for the past few days intensely working away and training. Don't miss our last festival of the season: The Kiwanis Dragon boat festival in Waterloo which is this weekend Sat.July 16th! Its right beside UW campus at the Laurel Creek Conservation Authority.

In other news I broke my personal record and worked over 20hrs straight... This week alone I pulled off two all-nighters and a half-nighter (4am) for work... its alright, the challenge to meet deadlines with last minute changes was the fun part. =D

Yes I'm a Nerd.

Hopefully I will be rested enough for the race on Saturday. I have a bit more work to do tomorrow morning but after that I'm just gonna rest up and get ready for the big day. Its gonna be a bittersweet cliche... I don't want dragonboat season to end but it will. I'm sure I'll keep in contact with the team and train off-season with them. We're like one big happy family. A few days after race day I then go off to British Columbia where I'll be on holiday for 8 days! I can't wait!

Its that time of year again!

Every year we try to come up with a team cheer but never do so with that the night before our Waterloo Festival the guys on the team got mohawks. Cheerless, simple, yet full of spirt... haha well this year we're gonna do something different with our hair... not sure what yet but stay tuned.

Who needs to cheer, our hair says it all...

Khann and his side walk haha nah its just crooked but soo funny!!

Barry you dissapoint us...

Good times, we turned a few heads and some even took pictures of us!

Hamilton Aftermath

500m
Heat 1: 2:23
Heat 2: 2:19
Heat 3: 2:26
Division 'A' 3rd place

250m
1st place

2000m
3rd place

We qualified for "A" Division and won 3rd place so we got Medals!! That brings my count up to 3!! I have 1-gold 1-silver and 1-bronze medal =) Even though Dan.Ho thinks they all look the same!

The 500m was good, we just need to work more on our high intensity endurance and technique as always. The 250m was sooooo fun its really short, our teams endurance level is well suited for this length. At the end of the day half of the team participated in the 2000m race with some other paddlers. I actually found it quite enjoyable, I love the challenge. Since I didn't want to hurt my shoulder I paddled the 2000m on the other side which helped me get through the whole race. Finally what a great finish we pulled it together at the end I felt it! Extremely exhausted now. We've been training so hard and its gonna get more intense next week with 3 training days (Tuesday/Thursday & Friday) with our race this coming Saturday in Waterloo.

I can't believe dragonboat season is coming to an end... Developing fitness, having fun, and making friendships are what makes the sport so addictive. I don't want it to end! So team if your reading this we gotta do a winter sport together I'm serious

Dont' think swordfish can handle thur/fri train .. then race on sat .. lol .. gunna be just tues (2hr) and thurs (1hr)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Blogger Wakeen, at 11:45 PM

I think thats better actually. Friday practice would kill us. I'd be too tired the next day I think.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Blogger Sedul, at 7:48 AM

oops looks like it's goign to be different. but don't push it, as Jason said, the humidex is 40 + .. I think we'll get tired and injured from that if we push it too hard.

Let's just take tuesday and friday easy now then.

Hamilton DB Festival !!

Team Swordfish is racing in the Hamilton Waterfest Dragonboat Festival tomorrow! Its a small festival with a lot of heart. There should be only five division and we will be racing five heats I think...Should be a blast. There's also a carnival with rides/games and an assortment of booths running on festival day. We hope to do our best and bring home some hardware! Our first race of the day is at 11:12am so come out and watch us race!

Festival Name: Lively Dragon Waterfest
-Racing at: Bayfront Park, Bay Street, Hamilton - July 9, 2005
-View the race schedule

We've been training twice a week lately in preparation for our peak performance in the Waterloo Dragonboat festival which is on Sat.July 16th! Its been intense but also quite fun as we do socialize after each training night.

(photo from, Fiona)

I started getting some shoulder joint pain I hope its nothing serious but I think it has to do with repetitive strain/overuse so I've suspended my gym routine for now and been taking it easy, hopefully it goes away with rest.
